Summer Leadership Institute 2026
Summer is right around the corner, and you know what that means...
Virginia21’s Summer Leadership Institute (SLI) returns this July 8-12 at the University of Richmond, bringing together student leaders from across the Commonwealth for five days of hands-on leadership development, advocacy training, and connection.
SLI is designed for students who want to move beyond interest in public issues and step into action. Through interactive workshops, students will build skills in communication, coalition building, and effective advocacy while gaining a deeper understanding of Virginia’s policy landscape. Participants will work alongside peers from colleges and universities statewide, engage with experienced practitioners, and leave with the tools and confidence to lead meaningful change on their campuses and beyond.
The institute is a fully immersive, residential experience with a packed schedule of high-impact sessions, collaborative projects, and networking opportunities. Students will apply what they learn in real time, developing campus engagement strategies and policy ideas that can shape Virginia21’s future work.
SLI runs July 8-12 at the University of Richmond. Space is limited. Students are required to participate fully for the duration of the program to be eligible.
The application closes at midnight on May 10th.
Acceptance to SLI also means you are joining VA21 as a Student Leader! Learn more here.
